alien Coating Water Beading @ the detailien HIVE

We don't normally post pictures of the water beading properties of the detailien alien Coating as freshly coated cars should be given sufficient time to cure* instead of taking gratuitous water beading pictures immediately after coating.

*While Optimum recommends a minimum of 30 minutes after coating before it becomes rain-fast and safe for water to contact the surface, the Optimum Opti-Coat hardens progressively within 12 hours and continues to  fully cure over the next few days depending on the weather.

Therefore we typically do not intentionally wet the surface just to take pictures of the water beading of the alien Coating.

Fortunately, we had a car that was recently coated at the detailien HIVE to capture some shots of the water beading.

Some reflections shots showing the depth and gloss of the alien Coating...

On to the water beading....

BMW F30 328i alien Coating @ the detailien HIVE

The owner of this BMW F30 328i Sport wanted to protect his brand-new ride... and decided to send it to the new detailien HIVE to be coated with the detailien alien Coating.

Most brand-new cars have a surprising number of paint issues as the paint could be damaged during the lengthy process after manufacturing, including transport, storage, pre-delivery prep, etc., to being handed over to the new owner.

This particular F30 328i however, was in pristine condition.

However, upon a detailed inspection of the paint under proper lightning conditions, some light scratches were found throughout and corrected before applying the alien Coating.

A detailed picture of one of the scratches found on the hood.

VW Golf GTi alien Coated @ the detailien HIVE

The owner of this brand new VW Golf GTi wanted to protect the paintwork with alien Coating powered by Optimum Opti-Coat.

Although the choice of coating is important and Optimum Opti-Coat has plenty of evidence supporting its effectiveness throughout the internet, it is just one aspect of coating a car.

The surface preparation is critical as the coating will seal in any paint defects that are uncorrected and hence the choice of detailiers to carry out the coating should not only be limited by which coatings they are using but the quality of their work before the coating is applied.

The tools for today... 3 Makitas with Optimum Double-Sided Red Foam and 2 Optimum MF compounding pads + 1 Flex 3401VRG with Optimum MF polishing pad.

VW seem to have quite a number of paint issues even when brand new. This is just a small sample of the many deep Random Isolated Deep Scratches or RIDS found throughout the body of this 'brand new' ride.

Corrected with our arsenal of specialized detailing tools. :-)

Scratches on the bumper...

More RIDS...

The B-Pillars are typically made out of plastic and are very soft and very prone to scratching... as you can see from this picture.
